In an order dated 25th of March, 2021, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court quashed an FIR against protesters of Citizenship Amendment Act (Bill) on the streets, which in the opinion of the police created not only public nuisance, but also hindered the smooth flow of traffic in the city.

NEW DELHI: To commemorate the 75th year of Indiaâs Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a âpadyatraâ (foot march) similar to the âDandi Marchâ or âSalt Satyagrahâ carried out by the âFather of the Nationâ Mahatama Gandhi in 1930 from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad.Â
PM Modi will inaugurate the curtain-raiser activities of âAzadi Ka Amrut Mahotsavâ. This Mahotsav will comprise a series of cultural events organised by the Government of India.Â
The padyatra to be flagged off by the PM, will be undertaken by 81 marchers from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari, and this 241-mile- long journey will end on 5th April. Â
